I was 10 years old when I first saw the music video for Kanye West’s “Power.” I remember the feeling of empowerment it gave me, and to this day, it’s a video I watch for inspiration. My goal is to create something that 10-year-old me would be in awe of, and to reach that stage, I know I need to get behind a camera every chance I get. So that’s what I intend to do.

At the moment, I’m studying Film and TV at East London Arts and Music (ELAM). When I’m not in school, I am either filming music videos or making funny (a.k.a. weird) short clips with my friends. It can get pretty stressful balancing a business, school and internships at the same time, but I wouldn't have it any other way. When I find something difficult, it just pushes me to work harder so I can conquer that 'something’.

I believe only I am the barrier and I won't stop myself

There’s honestly no satisfaction that competes with creating something beautiful. What motivates me the most is experiencing beautiful things, whether it be listening to my favourite album (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) or watching my favourite show (Arrested Development). The goal of creating something better than my favourites is what keeps me trying.

What I really want to do is create a show that impacts people and affects a generation. I’d love to make a comedy, because in my opinion there's nothing better than forgetting about everything and getting lost in the hilarious world of a show.

I do not have the ability to create this yet, but I know I will get there someday. My only important ability is my ability to learn.

I believe only I am the barrier and I won't stop myself. My brother has always encouraged me to push my limits with every film I make, so I have him to thank for this confidence. It is the most important thing in the world to tell people that they're awesome. Sometimes, they might just need one person to believe in them for them to believe in themselves. And also, even if they’re not awesome… they will be one day.
