AMAZING 9 MONTH INTERNSHIP
Ogilvy is an award-winning agency. They believe that great ideas can come from anyone of any age which is why diversity is at the heart of creativity.
The Pipe is a nine-month creative internship programme, with a difference: it has no upper age limit and it is open to everyone.
What's this all about?
The Pipe is a 9 month paid internship for creative people.
Education? Doesn’t matter. Previous experience? Not interested. Got a sob story that would make any normal person cry? We couldn’t give a monkey’s.
We don’t care where you come from or how old you are, what gender you think you are, or what kinds of people you prefer to fall in love with.
And we definitely don’t care who you know. So, there’s no getting in because your dad's friend's cat's cousin is the creative director.
We’re just looking for creative people. So, if you think you might be one, you should probably apply.
Successful applicants form a creative unit and tackle creative briefs from across the entire agency. It could be a TV ad, a rapid response to breaking news, or helping launch a brand-new product.
No photocopying, no filing, and no making tea.
You come up with the ideas, and in return you'll get help making them happen from one of the world's top creative networks.
One day you might be writing TV ads for Dove, the next you might find yourself launching a whole new brand, like VOXI.
And on top of that, you get paid the London living wage, so you can eat, and live indoors and stuff.
A word of warning though:
This isn’t “work experience”. This is work.
And you will need to work hard.
It’s a brain-wringing, finger-cramping, heart-twisting slog. Just ask any of the 28 people who’ve already gone through it.
But at the end of the programme, you’ll have a portfolio. And you’ll get a chance to show it off to the whole agency in an exhibition you will create.
And that, dear Pipers, is where you could get yourself a full-time job.
DURING THE PIPE YOU WILL BE CHALLENGED BY 3 TYPES OF BRIEF:
High speed, micro budget,
smart thinking work which
will often go live in hours.
Honing skills like: design, branding,
video making, writing, animation,
illustration and art direction.
Campaign thinking that may
take months to create and craft.
Salary: £19,890 (London Living Wage - pro rata)
Interested…? Great, read on!
APPLYING FOR THE PIPE IS A 3 STEP PROCESS:
1 BE YOURSELF
Send us one piece of work that proves your creativity.
It could be anything. From a brilliant film to a moving poem, a doodle or a cunning piece of code. A story. A painting. A killer idea sketched on a napkin. Submit a meme if you like, so long as you created it.
Anything. So long as it's one thing, and it must show us your creativity.
2 SELL YOURSELF
If you’re one of the top 200 applicants, you’ll be given a brief and two weeks to respond. Every full-time employee in Ogilvy London will get a chance to vote for their favourite entries.
But don’t worry about being big and flashy. Great ideas are always popular.
3 PROVE YOURSELF
The creators of the 50 most-liked entries will be invited to Sea Containers for a day. Here we’ll get to know each other a bit better. And through a combination of science and serendipity, we’ll select the 14 winning candidates.
Those 14 will become the 2018-19 cohort of The Pipe, starting in October.
Simple as that.
